  3. What can I do to help share my song or optimize my YouTube video and/or profile before the YouTube promo?

1) Share your music on social media in a relational way (story behind the song, do an IG live with cowriters/producer, etc.).

2) Optimize your YouTube video by putting your artist name and song name in the YouTube title. Put the full lyrics of your song in the video description. Add pics, a bio, and social links in your YouTube profile.

3) Set your video as “not made for kids” so that people are able to comment on your video (this isn’t available if you say your video is “made for kids”).

4) Make sure your video does not have any trailers or acting or non-music content.

5) Do not do a black screen on the video with the fade-in, then have the video "start" with a pop of color at the downbeat of the intro. When people do this, viewers sometimes think the video isn't working, which increases skip rate and decreases video retention.

6) Get at least 3 friends to comment on your video so that new listeners/viewers will feel more comfortable also commenting.

7) If your song is for church usage or for corporate singing (ex. contemporary worship), make sure to have the font easy to read. Sans serif fonts work great. Do a big font size, and display each line in its entirety when it should appear so that it's easy to sing along with for the whole video. When you keep the formatting functional and easy to digest, share, and use, it will likely be viewed, engaged with, and shared more.
