  3. My YouTube campaign did well for views but didn't garner a ton of comments or subscriber growth. Why is this?

Reasons for a low comment-to-view or like-to-view ratio could include the following:

1) Live videos and/or videos with live audio can be sort of up and down with results. Sometimes, people really love them. However, we generally see music videos with studio audio or lyric videos perform with higher conversions than live videos or live audio videos.

2) Alternate versions of the “original” version tend to not do as well as the original.

Most of this the time, this is because the original is typically better or more commercial in most cases.

In addition to the product differences as far as the commerciality of them, sometimes artists don’t push alternate versions of songs as aggressively as their originals (with a YouTube premiere, watch party, big push on socials, etc.), which can sometimes play a factor.

3) The video may have not been formatted to our suggestions outlined in this helpdesk link: What can I do to help share my song or optimize my YouTube video and/or profile before the YouTube promo?

4) We’ve found through years of promoting that videos pushed in Q4 of the year tend to get awesome results for views (commonly on the high end of the average view range or even exceeding it), but they get lower engagement-per-view ratios across all genres. This could be playing a factor in your comment-per-view ratios being lower than expected.

5) Lastly - an advertised or promoted video will not have as high of a comment-to-view or like-to-view ratio as a YouTube channel with a well established audience.

Just as you likely don't like every new video or every 20th video you watch from a channel you don't know, it's likely that the user behavior of those being advertised to are responding to your video in the same way. This is a beautiful thing because the organic response that we get from each video can reveal which videos and songs from your catalog are resonating the most, which is really helpful data and can help you know which ones to push the most for the most impact.
